I'm the co‑founder and Chief Revenue Officer of Healthcare.com, a company I cofounded in 2014. I led the company through its first seven years of growth, through our Series B financing and up to the period just before our Series C in 2021. Today I lead Healthcare.com's Consumer business, focused on attracting, matching, monetizing, and retaining health insurance consumers on our platform.
Our Business Model
Healthcare.com's businesses operate at the intersection of consumer acquisition, insurance distribution, product design, and insurance economics.
On one side, Healthcare.com operates a digital marketplace that helps individuals find and enroll in health insurance coverage through our network of licensed agency partners and carriers. We are one of the industry leaders in connecting consumers to coverage across ACA marketplace plans, private individual insurance, supplemental coverage, short-term medical, and other alternatives in the under‑65 market. We also maintain a meaningful presence in the over‑65 Medicare segment, working with some of the largest Medicare Supplement and Medicare agency distributors in the country.
Because we sit at the front end of the decision journey, we see millions of consumer interactions every year — what people search for, what they can afford, where they hesitate, and what ultimately drives confidence when choosing coverage.
On the other side of the value chain, through our Pivot Health platform, we partner with insurance carriers to co‑develop proprietary alternative health insurance products. These products are distributed both through third‑party agencies and direct‑to‑consumer channels, and we participate in the underlying risk economics.
That structure gives us a rare end‑to‑end view of the value chain — from customer acquisition cost and mass intent signals, to enrollment behavior, to the underlying risk performance.
Where We Are
I co‑founded Healthcare.com in 2014 with Jose Vargas and Jeff Smedsrud, with initial backing from PeopleFund, an investment firm where I am also a partner. Our earliest investors included several individuals who helped build Booking.com and Booking Holdings. As the business scaled, Healthcare.com went on to raise more than $200 million in total funding, most recently in 2021.
Today, Healthcare.com is led by Sean Taylor, our CEO since 2022. We have a deep and strong team of data-driven operators, builders, and go‑to‑market specialists who continue to expand the business. We work with some of the top health insurance agency distributors in the country in multiple lines of health insurance and Medicare. We have also developed proprietary health insurance products in profitable partnership with aligned insurance carriers, and continue to design new products that integrate directly into our distribution and customer acquisition engine.
We continue to grow across multiple dimensions — our distributor relationships, enrollment volume, customer acquisition channels, verticals, product offerings, and our ability to build longer customer lifecycles and increase lifetime value — while building durable, scalable and nimble businesses rooted in strong unit economics.
